Keem Bay Village
4 July - 27 August 2017
This is our second season working at the post Medieval settlement at Keem Bay. The settlement consists of a tight cluster of small house foundations dating from the early 19th century. In 2015 we excavated the largest visible foundation which turned out to be a small rectangular cottage divided into two compartments. This year we will be excavating the two adjacent foundations which are noticeably smaller and appear to be more oval shaped. We suspect these might be earlier buildings that may push back the date of the occupation into the 18th century.
